I will at least, joining a server from the friends list seems the only way for me to get around the connection issues 
If I use 'play now' it only works around 1 out of 10.

Does the recon eventually get the weapon/tools so that no matter where you hit someone he/she is dead (on normal servers)?

Dear diary,
Had a good evening as a sniper yesterday, desert maps rule for a sniper. Had probably to do with a good team so I wasn't part of a 14-snipers-in-my-team outfit. Shaatti was there as a medic. I unlocked 3 guns I think. Last gun looks awesome but most prefer the GOL, why Shaidar, why??!1

last sniper just looks good, it has max dmg but you still need 2 shots to kill and it has lower accuracy and about double reload time compared to GOL :S
accuracy = win in bc2 i've noticed
